The Barcelona, Spain Sleepaway Summer Camp is a hosted international summer camp experience led and chaperoned by Kay, also known as The Mom Trotter. This program gives campers the opportunity to enjoy language learning, cultural immersion, sports, outdoor activities, beachside fun, independence, and international friendships in a safe and structured camp environment.
The camp is located in Castelldefels, just minutes from the heart of Barcelona and only a short walk from the beach. Campers stay in a supervised student residence on the UPC university campus, near the Olympic Canal and the Mediterranean Sea.
Throughout the week, campers will attend Spanish or English language lessons, participate in sports, workshops, recreational activities, excursions, evening programs, and optional specialty activities. The camp brings together students from around the world in a multicultural environment, with approximately 80% international students and 20% Spanish students.
This experience is part of Rooted Journeys’ annual international summer camp programs, hosted each summer to help children explore the world, build confidence, grow in independence, and connect with peers from different cultures.
As the founder of Rooted Journeys, Kay personally leads and chaperones Rooted Journeys summer camp programs to give families additional support and peace of mind throughout the travel experience.

Campers will experience a balanced mix of language learning, cultural exchange, outdoor activities, sports, workshops, excursions, and recreational fun.
The program includes 20 Spanish or English lessons per week, residential accommodation, 24-hour supervision, four meals per day, activities, workshops, sports, and excursions.
After morning language lesson, the rest of the day, is spent participating in activities together, giving camper the opportunity to practice language skills naturally while building friendships with students from around the world.
The camp is located in Castelldefels, a coastal town near Barcelona known for its beaches, outdoor activities, and access to the Olympic Canal.
A typical camp day includes:
Breakfast
Morning language lessons
Lunch with fellow campers
Afternoon excursions, sports, workshops, or recreational activities
Optional activities such as soccer, tennis, sailing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, or canoeing
Dinner
Evening games, shows, talent nights, theme nights, or camp activities

A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your place. Cancellations within 24 hours of booking are eligible for a full refund. All payments become final thereafter due to vendor commitments. Travelers are responsible for securing passports, visas, and vaccinations and everything else needed for the trip.
